Overseers of Franklin Twp. v. Overseers of Bridgewater Twp., 20 N.J.L. 563 (1846)

The Overseers of Franklin against the Overseers of Bridgewater regarding the removal of Sarah Brocaw. Brocaw was born into slavery, and she was enslaved to John A. Autun (deceased) and later Margaret McCain (both of Bridgewater) before being sold to Bergen Brocaw (of Franklin). Decision: both orders quashed.
