Stiles v. Richardson, 4 Yeates 82 (Pa. 1804)

George Stiles (plaintiff) against Daniel Richardson (defendant) regarding Isaac, an enslaved man. Isaac and another fugitive slave escaped Robert Ward; Ward recaptured them and sold them to Samuel Pennington, who agreed to manumission after their being enslaved to Pennington for four years. Richardson claims Isaac was sold to him by Ward as a slave for life and the deed for manumission was fraud. Decision: for plaintiff.
