Fox v. Lambson, 8 N.J.L. 275 (1826)
Jacob Fox (plaintiff) against Moses Lambson (defendant) regarding the competency of a witness as enslaved persons are not considered competent witnesses. The witness in question was Abel Comency, a Black man. Comency was previously enslaved to Edward Keasby via the estate of Henry Loomis, and Comency claimed he was manumitted. Decision: new trial awarded.
