Commonwealth v. Holloway, 2 Serg. & Rawle 305 (Pa. 1816)
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania against Holloway, keeper of the prison of Philadelphia, (defendant) regarding the imprisonment of Eliza, an enslaved girl. Eliza was held on warrant by Samuel Badger, associate judge, as she was said to be the fugitive slave of James Corse. Eliza was the daugter of Mary, also a fugitive slave, enslaved to Corse. Decision: Eliza was born free.
