Chatham Twp. v. Canfield’s Ex’rs, 8 N.J.L. 52 (1824)

The Township of Chatham against the Executors of Samuel Canfield (defendants) regarding the cost of support of William, an enslaved man. William was previously enslaved by Canfield (deceased), and was maintained for some time by Canfield’s sons John (deceased) and Benjamin. Decision: judgement reversed.
