State v. Frees, 1 N.J.L. 259 (1794)

The State of New Jersey against Frees, in regard to enslaved persons Henry, Dinah, and Susan, who claim their freedom from Frees. Frees purchased the slaves from the executors of the estate their previous enslaver, Robert Patterson (deceased), who allegedly intended to free them upon his death. Decision: prisoners remanded.
